Q Emma asks:

Hello. My Jack Russell is 10 years old and we think she may be going blind. Should we do anything about this or is it natural for her age?

Q Our vet says: Older animals can often suffer from problems with their eyesight just like people. What could or should be done really depends upon the exact diagnosis and cause of the problem. Some eye conditions can also be very painful (glaucoma for example) so it is worth finding out why your dog is having problems with her sight. Often cataracts are the problem and you may choose not to have them treated. But it would be worth checking to find out if your dog has other problems which have caused the cataracts (diabetes for example) since the underlying cause may need attention.
