Swollen muzzle and lump on dog

Species: dog | Category: medical-surgical | Submitted: 23 April 2009 01:58AM | viewed 3339 times
Q Kar asks about bobby (dog) :

My dog has a swollen muzzle and a lump on the top side of it. I thought that it was probably from being stung by a bug or playing in the wrong bush, so I gave him Piriton. After that it got better. However, after a while it just came back. It just comes back really suddenly, just like the first time it showed up. When I touched it he yelped. When he eats his biscuits he yelped and ran away from the bowl... he also no longer pushes the door open to get in the house with his nose. What do you think is causing this? The Piriton has some effect but then it comes back.

Q Our vet says: It could be a problem with his teeth or maybe even a tumour. It is impossible to be certain over the internet. This is definitely something which is worth having checked by your vet especially as your dog seems to be in pain.
