Swollen ankle

Category: general | Submitted: 13 May 2009 03:51PM | viewed 60391 times
Q Louise asks:

My male cat has a swollen left ankle, roughly twice its normal size. He is weight bearing on it but cries if I try to move it (gently). I have had a look at his paw and surrounding area and cannot see any foreign objects or cuts etc. Other than this he is a healthy cat. He spends most of his time outside, but the on morning when he was limping, he had been inside all night and seemed fine. Can you give me any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks

Q Our vet says: Your cat may have anything from an abscess to a fracture or even a tumour. Your cat is obviously in pain and does need treatment from your local vet who should be able to make an informed diagnosis and offer appropriate treatment.
