D.A.P and Feliway

D.A.P and Feliway

DAP and Feliway products are synthetic versions of natural pheromones which dogs and cats produce at certain times and which help to reduce fear, anxiety and stress in these animals. When pets are stressed or anxious they often behave in ways which we find unacceptable. This may involve house soiling, destructive behaviour and excessive vocalisation. In these situations pheromone products may help a great deal to alleviate the stress for the pet and reduce or prevent the unwanted behaviour.

Feliway

Feliway is a synthetic form of the feline facial pheromone which cats naturally use when they rub their cheeks against objects or people. It makes their environment feel safe and familiar to them. If cats are feeling stressed or anxious they may start to show behaviour such as urine marking and scratching which are obviously undesirable. By using Feliway you can help to reassure your cat and make their environment more relaxing for them to be in. This in turn will help to prevent or stop undesirable behaviours which are related to stress. If your cat is urine marking (spraying )in your house, scratching furniture or showing other signs of stress then Feliway could help.

D.A.P.

All mother animals release substances called "appeasing" pheromones while they are lactating (producing milk). The purpose of these is to reassure and calm the offspring. These reassuring properties remain effective for adult animals too. D.A.P. products contain a synthetic form of the natural canine appeasing pheromone and can help to stop or prevent fear related behaviour in puppies and adult dogs such as destruction, vocalisation, house soiling or excessive licking. D.A.P.products help to comfort puppies and adult dogs in situations they may find worrying or which make them apprehensive (visitors, strangers, vet visits, firework seasons, new or unpredictable situations). This is a particularly good product to consider if you are getting a new puppy as it can help your new puppy settle quickly into its new home.

Felifriend

Felifriend is a product which helps you to gain a cat's trust and confidence when they are meeting you for the first time. It is a fraction of the feline facial pheromone which cats use when they brush their cheeks against objects and people. It helps them to feel more relaxed and at ease. This product is good if you are involved in cat rescue or similar activities since it can help you "make friends" with cats much more easily. It is also worth considering using this product when you meet your new kitten or adult cat for the first time.
