Herbal Medicines and Supplements

Herbal Medicines and Supplements

Many people use herbal remedies and they can be just as effective for our pets too. These herbal supplements and medicines tend to be most effective where there is chronic disease; conditions such as eczema, arthritis, urinary problems and constipation often respond very well. These products can be used together with conventional veterinary medicines with little likelihood of adverse reactions. Do consult your vet if your pet is unwell since these medicines should not be used as a substitute for veterinary care. We have sourced high quality herbal medicines and dietary supplements for your animals so take a look through this section to see if there is anything here for you.

Organic Valerian Compound

Organic Valerian Compound

This valerian extract can help to quickly reduce hyperactivity and excitable behaviour in dogs and cats. It is also useful for stressed and fearful animals, for example during thunderstorms or fireworks, and it also works well if given before a trip to the vet or the grooming parlour. Many cats adore the smell of valerian so it is particularly good at calming them. The compound can be dropped onto the bedding so you do not even have to administer it directly to your pet. This a particularly easy way to make fractious cats much more manageable. (Take care if giving this product to exotic cats with low body fat since it may cause hyperactivity in these particular animals) Ingredients: Organically grown fresh extracts of vervain 50%, valerian 25%, mistletoe 25%. Dosage: Cats or small dogs (less than 10 kgs): up to 1/4 teaspoon as required. Medium Dogs (10-25 kgs) 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon as required. Large dogs (25-45 kgs) 1 teaspoon as required.
